Non-Negotiable

Take a moment and think about the air you breathe. Hold your breath for a couple seconds, and then let it out. Take a large, deep breath and let it out slower. Not that hard, right?

Now stop breathing for 10min.

You probably can’t, but world record holders can do it for twice that long. So is it really that much of an unfathomable thing to ask you to do it?

Yes.

Most everyone would agree that not only would it take extreme amounts of effort/training to be able to do it, the task would be generally pointless for most of us.

So why do we do things like this that actually matter? Some things shouldn’t be negotiated. Not with anyone, or even yourself.

Start with this:

  1. 8 hours of sleep
  2. Well balanced diet
  3. Regular exercise

A couple of these are going to mean different things for different people, but the point is they are required; not optional. So why are you negotiating on these being flexible or somehow a good choice to be making at all?

Start figuring these out (if you haven’t) and build from there. Be non-negotiable on what really matters, even if it’s you who impulsively wants something else.
